A Clinical Study of the Patellar Fracture

Abstract
Recently the fracture of patella has incressing tendency due to frequent traffic and industrial accidents.
In this series, we treated 38 fractures of patella from January, 1989 to December, 1992 at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kwang Ju Christian Hospital, and the results were as
follows
1. Comminuted freacture was common type in this seris.
2. Men predominate in a ratio of nearly 3 : 1.
3. The most favorable results were obtained by Modified Tension Band Wiring and OR & IF with Malleolar Sorew method as compared with other fixation techniques. The average immobilization periods of Modified Tension Band OR & IF with Malleolar
Screw
method were 4.1, 3.2 weeks and average bone union of them showed at 5.4, 5.2 weeks.
4. Especially, the OR & IF with Malleolar Screw Method was a good results on the dimple transverse and longitudinal fractures.
